After being in the UK for almost two weeks preparing the boat for it's big voyage, we're just about to slip the lines and start moving. Our ultimate planned destination in April/May 2023 is New Jersey USA. The big picture plan is as follows:
Now to early September: Sail from Port Hamble to Torquay (Tor Bay) UK, pick up another crew member, then cross the Bay of Biscay to Spain (A Coruna).
September - October: Cruise the Atlantic coast south from Spain through Portugal, to Gibraltar, then set out for Canary Islands.
November: two multi-day passages. First from Gibraltar to Canary Islands. Then from Canary Islands to Cape Verde Islands.
December: Cross the Atlantic from Cape Verde Islands to Antigua (Caribbean), arriving before Christmas day. We are planning on this passage taking from 13-20 days depending on conditions.
January - early April: cruise the eastern Caribbean, and the Bahamas.
April - early May: Sail up the US east coast and finish in New York harbour area, New Jersey.
For our first step this week, we plan to leave Port Hamble marina tomorrow Thursday August 25, 2022. We will sail overnight, arriving in Tor Bay on Friday morning. There we are planning to meet Kirsty (who we met and did coral reef restoration work with in Fiji), who will board and join us on the passage to Spain. We plan to depart Saturday morning August 27, and arrive A Coruna Spain 3-5 days later.
